Winter Texas Appreciation Fiesta

Posted on: January 16th, 2013 by admin No Comments

The city of Harlingen invites campers to the 9th Annual Winter Texas Appreciation Fiesta held at Casa de Amistad on January 21. Expected to draw more than 3,000 Winter Texans, the event will involve food, entertainment and healthcare freebies.

A mariachi band will entertain at 11 a.m., followed by a line dancing performance. Concluding the event at 2 p.m. is a Johnny Cash tribute concert, for which tickets may be purchased at the City of Harlingen Parks and Recreation Department.

The mild winters of South Texas attract many snowbirds wishing to escape the bitter cold and harsh weather conditions found in much of the country. In appreciation for so many who make this area their home for the winter, the community hosts this festivity yearly to welcome these folks back. Aside from the food and entertainment, the event provides a great opportunity for campers to visit with and compare experiences with those who share their love of the RV lifestyle.
